October 16th

Language:
We are in our last week of our teamwork unit and read The Biggest Pumpkin Ever.



Reading:
Our Mini Lesson was on Summarizing. We discussed the SWBST method!


Math:
We started learning about Division today using an hands on approach. Diving counters into equal groups!


Science:
We started our new Unit in science about plants. Today we learned that bees pollinate flowers by taking pollen from the pollen dusters to the sticky stigma.

October 13th

Morning Assembly
Blake was our class spokesperson and he informed everyone that 3/4 of our class has brought their homework back everyday and our class has received 50 compliment cards from specials teachers this quarter! Averie and Kooper were announced as our 2nd quarter ambassadors. Way to go 3rd grade team!


Language:
We used teamwork to construct our very own patchwork quilt!


Reading:
All of our reading groups are enjoying their group books and our reading responses are leaps and bounds ahead of where we started.

Math:
We took our chapter 4 Test today. Everyone in our class earned an A or B on this test! Yay!

Social Studies:
We took our Maps Unit Test today.

October 12th

Language:
We Discussed the teamwork that it took to make the patchwork quilt and began making our own quilt squares out of paper.

Reading:
We focused on when, where and how to use commons in our writing using this text!


Math:
We did our Chapter review in order to get prepared for our chapter test tomorrow.


Social Studies:
We went outside to practice our cartography skills by constructing physical maps of our playground.

Language:
Today we practiced our sequence words and practice our spelling words using SpellBall!


Reading:
We reviewed and learned more Punctuation and what purpose it serves in our reading and writing.

October 10th

Language:
Today we learned about sequencing words and got a chance to practice them by giving Mrs. Johnson directions on how to put peanut butter on crackers!


Reading:
We completed our anchor chart on non-fiction text features. We even got to start a scavenger hunt to find these text features in an old textbook.


Math:
We worked with arrays again today. We can now use arrays to help us multiply.


S.S.
We completed our Political World Maps. Then we studied our continents and oceans "walking on the world"

October 9th

Language:
Today we read The Patchwork Quilt and discussed several vocabulary words we were unfamiliar with. Also, we talked about how all the characters used teamwork to complete the quilt.


Reading:
We identified a few text features in non-fiction text. We will add to our list tomorrow.


Math:
We learned how to multiply using arrays. Several of us posted our own arrays for our classmates to solve on Seesaw.


Social Studies:
We are working on political maps of world. This includes learning our 7 continents and 4 major oceans. We practiced our continents and oceans by playing pass the globe!

October 6th

Language:
We learned about metaphors today!


Reading:
We finished up our paper on comparing and contrasting Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese. One student decided, " I am glad everyone is allowed to play baseball now because if you are good enough you deserve to."

Math:
Today was Math Madness in our classroom. Students competed using their multiplication skills until a champion was declared. It was heated competition, but congrats to Robbie Bruning for winning Math Madness today!


Community Pep Rally
We walked up to the square today for the community pep rally. Go Trojans!
